I gotta rant about this one "friend". Met the guy at autocross and we became good buddies fairly quickly. I'm of the mindset that 'what's mine is yours' so when his miata broke down I lent him my mustang for auto-x for the rest of the season. I couldn't go since I work weekends so I figured let someone get some use out of my "sportscar". I also lent him my car for a date without a second thought. Any time I picked him up, I'd let him drive. I'm a good friend like that; I put people before objects, even if those objects are near and dear.

Recently he got into some money and ordered himself a r33 gts-t from japan. Obviously I was happy for him since it's one of my childhood dream cars. I was even planning on buying him a knockoff GT-R front bumper from the UK for Christmas or whatever. But ever since the order, all he's been saying I should sell my "muffstain" and get a skyline too. I was like ok, whatever, but the whole time last night he spent deriding me for it. I tried to make a point that skylines are basically the jdm equivalent of a mustang and not some super race machine (ffs he paid $5000 for the car, I don't know what he expects from a 22 year old skyline), but no; his car has four wheel steering, and IRS, and my car is "just" a pony car. All this time I thought at least he appreciated my car for its cheap and reliable speed, but it turns out he was just holding his tongue. He even went as far to say that my car doesn't sound all that great; something I found rather insulting since if my car has anything going for it, it's the sound. Cams to give it a nice lope at the 750 rpm idle, and a nice loud roar at the top end but not obnoxious like a lot of the off-road (no cats) mustangs driving around. I think I'll have to just suck it up until he pays me back the rest of the money he owes me ($450 which went toward a hardtop for his NA miata), and as soon as he does tell him to either shut up or go fuck himself.

I was in a similar situation with a total douchebag I used to play hockey with.

He coxed me into buying equipment and promised to teach me to play, i played with him at drop in, and a few of his friends. I made some progress, but never having played I wasn't that great on skates, come to find out pretty much the whole time they were making fun of me behind my back cause I'm chubby guy and I'm not the most athletic inclined, but I skated hard and gave 100% all the time out there. And I'm not talking about the way players razz other players it wasn't "eat another burger chub chub" it was "you're a complete embarrassment on the ice, why do you even play"

It sucks, but he was toxic and I cut him out of my life.

I am much happier now.

I know, I thought he was like me, had an appreciation for any car since most cars have at least one thing to merit. Since he ordered it, all he's been talking about is how people are going to gawk over his skyline, how girls are going to throw themselves at him while nobody cares about common muffstains (literally said muffstain 20-30 times). In retrospect, everything he said is just so stupid. I'm slow to anger so I didn't tell him off there and then but if he brings that stuff up next time I see him I'll definitely know what to say.

haha yeah, to be honest my car is already really freaking quick with the setup I have. Cams, intake, exhaust, and a short rear end on a torquey 3V 4.6 is no joke. I personally think he's become somewhat jaded to the speed and thinks that his 'lightweight-turbo-I6-making-250hp-in-'95-skyline' is as fast as a V8 mustang that makes the same power at 4000 rpm. Also I'll have a supercharger strapped on come summer so I'll have a fun time taking him to the cleaners at auto cross and anywhere else he decides to try and keep pace.

I drive a RWD V8 but I dont talk shit about my friends FWD V6's when they let me use it because I know they love their car as much as I do mine. So its off limits like talking about how your friends sister is really REALLY hot.

I made some of my best friends by swapping cars and lending stuff to each other. If a man is trustworthy, he should take any responsibility you give him seriously. Those that don't are the ones not worth being friends with. One way or another you'll end up putting trust in a friend and better to find out sooner rather than later with something superfluous as oppose to investing years into a relationship only to find out it isn't enduring.

My winter car? I use a co-purchased f350 7.3 powerstoke 6 speed manual. My dad uses it for hunting and I use it to take me where the bus won't. It's pretty much perfect so no mods planned for it... Maybe a bull bar for the front bumper. My buddy also ragged on it and still has the gall to think American made cars are a cut below imports and big truck=little dick. Which import is going to cost less than 10 grand and carry you through half a million miles of hard roads and big hauls? Damn that guy is so annoying the more I think about it.

Sorry, I had a vague modifier by placement, I should have said, what's the car modification roster look like this winter, i.e. projects on the Mustang while the snow flies. :) The truck is awesome, though. If I went the tow-it-to-the-track route, that would be one of my top candidates for sure.

Thanks K-roll. I've been meaning to mention I'm super glad you changed your outlook around and I've gone back to enjoying your posts. I hope you caught my apology at some point, I was out of line in some of the things I said, I am sorry. I'm also super stoked that you might get a 2015. I voted for guard metallic in your polling post, but honestly any dark color will look sleek. Black is slimming and these cars aren't exactly slim so those colors look best imo. Ever notice how small cars look great in bright colors but big cars don't always? example

And if you like color, a bright stripe adds to the slimming effect and looks sharp on a black or gray ala

Also, 10/10 recommend a v6. Those cars sound sweet once you open up the exhaust, and have more than enough power. Example at 1:20.

I played mass effect and watched that adventure time episode so I burst out laughing at the build up. Thanks mate. To be honest, I wrote that right after the fact so I was just a little pissed and just mentioning the stuff that irked me. Not all the details are in there, like he wanted to stop by a bank to pay me back but I said 'no rush', and the fact I was laughing everything off so he had no reason to think my man-feelings were hurt. My buddy is actually just one of those people who don't let up on a joke and if it's against you it can piss you off. Also he's an idiot so I think once his head comes down from the clouds he'll be less of a jack-hole. I'd be stupidly happy too if I was getting a sweet-ass skyline. That being said, I'm done lending him money and stuff. He's got his car now and he's got money so no reason for me to invest my shit into his ungrateful ass. I've got a whole spiel next time he needs something so I'm sure I can move on.

I've actually been thinking about color choice myself. Guard is an excellent color, black would be too much for me as a DD.

I'm thinking about what neat things I could do with the car, and I've been talking with a very good friend of mine for insight, and now I'm gonna ask you too! :)

The plan is to make this a "modern retro" S550. So the plan for right now is purely aesthetic:

That sounds like an awesome plan. Those wheels with that color and louvers would be level 25 badass. You might have to consider a wrap though, instead of a repaint. Way cheaper and you can use the body paint in some ways to make accents or stripes or whatever. And yeah i've seen the orange and black mrt car. Which part where you thinking of?

Is a wrap safe and durable? Can it be waxed and washed? Does it last Forever? But it is cheaper, so it's got that going for it. That's an interesting idea with the stripes though.

I just mentioned MRT because they're actually local to me. :)

What's you think of that axleback in comparison to the Borla? I know you love loud exhausts as much as I do.

Personally I like the deeper sound of the borlas, it's more amg as oppose to the roush which is more alfa. Either way, the V6 sounds badass. Anyone who says otherwise is basing it on prejudice against older v6s (the 4.0 was a lot more meh)

Wraps aren't forever I don't think. I don't know too much about them besides they're more than half the cost. Either way, definitely suggest investigating.

Yeah, actually to be honest, that v6 sounds good with whatever exhaust you go with. I think maybe the borlas sound too V8 (they have the same deep tone as mine, I guess that's why I like em), whereas other resonators make a good exotic sound, you're right. I wish you luck, picking out an exhaust system for car guys is like picking out a pair of expensive shoes for girls... it takes forever to decide. As for the chrome, I haven't seen good use of it yet on a modern car although if you're thinking a chrome front like on the green boss you showed me. I think it could be made to work. More of a sublet accent. And whatever you do, don't chrome out your tail lights. I know theres a company called retroUSA that makes chrome body accents like a chrome rocker strip and for the front bumper. Looks ok on the earlier retro gens but I don't know how such a thing would look on the 2015

Picking out an exhaust is a nightmare, especially if more videos come about. I don't know how compatible the '15 is with the '11-'14 parts, but I hope they're the same..

I'm quite weary of chrome myself, so I think for now, I'll do the louver, wheels, and do some more performance-oriented things, like lowering springs, and a tune.

BBK is gonna be putting out cold air induction kits, long tube exhaust headers, shorty tuned length and hi flow x pipes and a new throttle body, so this should be interesting without wrecking the warranty.

I wanna see how much naturally aspirated power I can get to the wheels. :P

if the cam profile and air flow restrictions are anything like my car, I'd guess you could be making 350whp with a high octane tune, higher rise cams, and long tube headers. Swap out the intake manifold, port your runners, and get a stroker and tune for higher revs and octane... probably 400+ hp. Few people go that route though because it's relatively expensive to max out NA power on a modern engine.
